Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Support Professional to work with students who have intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviors in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers and support staff with routine and specialized tasks across various areas of a Secondary School setting
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including teachers, therapists, parents, and students
  • Apply principles of effective behavior management for students with intellectual disabilities or severe challenging behaviors
  • Support the educational services provided to students, excluding duties defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated capacity to perform routine and specialized support tasks
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively within a team environment
  • Understanding of principles of effective behavior management for students with intellectual disabilities or severe challenging behaviors
  • Knowledge of intellectual disability and severe behaviors and their impact on learning
  • Outstanding professional and personal attributes, including humility, collaboration, and an improvement focus

Selection Criteria:

  1. SC1. Demonstrated capacity to assist with routine and specialized support tasks across various areas of a Secondary School setting
  2. SC2. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and communicate effectively within a team environment
  3. SC3. Demonstrated understanding of principles of effective behavior management for students with intellectual disabilities or severe challenging behaviors
  4. SC4: Demonstrated understanding of intellectual disability and severe behaviors and their impact on learning
  5. SC5: Outstanding professional and personal attributes, including humility, collaboration, and an improvement focus

Working Arrangements:

This role requires no attendance. Hours and days negotiable.
