We are seeking a talented Commis Chef to join our award-winning kitchen brigade at Novotel Brisbane South Bank. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present menu items with variety and flair, within cost margins specified by the hotel.
  • Ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage, implementing and maintaining stock control procedures.
  • Prepare mis en place as required and check that all cooked and pre-cooked foods are properly stored.
  • Liaise with the restaurant team regarding menu availability, additions, and changes.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy working environment, ensuring all equipment is serviced and cleaned, and reporting any problems to the Executive Chef.
  • Ensure Work, Health, and Safety procedures are observed to ensure team and guest safety.
  • Embed our Heartiest Culture in all actions.

Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for cuisine and cooking with a creative flair.
  • Previous experience in similar roles within an a la carte environment.
  • An interest in learning and developing your career with industry professionals.
  • Trade qualifications with previous experience an advantage.
  • A working understanding of food safety standards and HACCP.
  • A high standard of hygiene, grooming, and presentation.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English; additional languages a plus.
  • Flexibility regarding work availability, as we operate 7 days a week, including public holidays.
