About the Role

We're seeking a skilled Sydney Traffic Operations Specialist to join our team in the Control Room, redirecting traffic flow, coordinating response teams, and relaying critical information to keep our roads safe.

This is a 12-month casual position based in Sydney, with various locations available. You'll work collaboratively with field staff, Emergency Services, and your team to respond swiftly to incidents, containing the event and ensuring everyone's safety.

As a key member of our team, you'll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. This role will suit someone with a curious mind, transferrable skills, and experience in a monitoring centre or operational environment.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and manage traffic on open roads and in tunnels using different control systems.
  • Familiarize yourself with Automated Height Detectors, Road Management systems, CCTV, and Automatic Incident Detection Systems.
  • Collaborate with field staff and Emergency Services to respond to incidents, prioritizing tasks and ensuring efficient operations.
  • Create Incident Management and Traffic Management plans to ensure our roads run more efficiently and safely when things don't go to plan.
  • Drive process improvements, finding new ways to enhance traffic management and make recommendations.
  • Collect real-time information on road conditions for stakeholders, media, and customers, providing accurate updates.
  • Understand the importance of rigorous knowledge of traffic management policies, practices, and procedures, including operational systems.

  • Computer proficiency, analytical skills, and a passion for new technology and systems.
  • Driven, resilient, and efficient, with confidence and professionalism in challenging situations.
  • Organized, decisive, and able to prioritize tasks effectively while juggling multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with experience in writing reports and highlighting key details.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including shift work, as our roads operate 24/7.
