About the Role

We're seeking a skilled City Traffic Coordinator to join our team in Sydney. This is a 12-month casual position that offers the opportunity to make a real impact on the city's transportation infrastructure.

As a City Traffic Coordinator, you'll play a critical role in redirecting traffic flow, coordinating response teams, and relaying critical information to ensure the safety of our roads. You'll work collaboratively with field staff, emergency services, and your team to respond to incidents and contain them.

You'll have a strong understanding of traffic management policies, practices, and procedures, including operational systems. Your analytical mind and attention to detail will enable you to monitor and manage traffic on both open roads and in tunnels using various control systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and manage traffic using automated height detectors, road management systems, CCTV, and automatic incident detection systems.
  • Collaborate with field staff and emergency services to respond to incidents and contain them.
  • Develop and implement incident management and traffic management plans to ensure efficient and safe traffic flow.
  • Collect and analyze real-time data on road conditions for stakeholders, the media, and customers.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technology and systems, and identify opportunities to improve processes and make recommendations.
Requirements
  • A minimum of experience in a monitoring centre or operational environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and respond to changing situations.
  • Experience with writing reports and communicating complex information effectively.
  • Familiarity with shift work and ability to adapt to changing schedules.
