Correctional Counsellor Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Correctional Counsellor to join our team. As a Correctional Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders into society.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Counsel offenders about offending behaviours and consequences of such behaviour.
  • Take personal responsibility for following through on any work-related incident or emerging risk without instruction.
  • Provide welfare support to offenders in a human services environment.
  • Engage with community groups and external service providers to provide offender support.
  • Model positive attitudes and behaviours in a correctional environment.
Requirements:
  • Experience in working with offenders and providing guidance and support.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to engage with diverse client groups.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment instruments and processes.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
