Nursing Unit Managers play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless patient flow processes by leading, managing, and organizing the nursing and multidisciplinary team. This involves overseeing business and management functions as well as processes at the ward or unit level.
Key Responsibilities:- As a leader, Nursing Unit Managers are responsible for coordinating the nursing and multidisciplinary care team to achieve optimal results.
- The ideal candidate will possess broad nursing/midwifery experience and knowledge, allowing them to make informed decisions and provide effective leadership.
- Nursing Unit Managers must be skilled in monitoring and managing the business and management functions and processes of the ward or unit.
- To succeed in this role, Nursing Unit Managers must demonstrate their capabilities through attitude, skills, behavior, and attributes.
- Nursing Unit Managers must hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- This role requires strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to negotiate resolutions and manage conflict effectively.
- Candidates should possess proven ability to create and maintain a positive workplace culture and articulate a clear vision for nursing services in critical care environments.
- A minimum of five years postgraduate nursing clinical experience is required, along with tertiary qualifications in nursing and/or health management.
