This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct an appropriate and safe standard of care within a multidisciplinary team for all patients within the Unit.
  • Monitor and manage the business and management functions and processes of the ward or unit.
  • As the leader of the unit, the NUM will demonstrate their capability through attitude, skills, behaviour, and attributes.
  • Demonstrate broad nursing/midwifery experience and knowledge.
  • Understand and accept that patients are the central focus of service delivery.
  • Demonstrate professional integrity; ethical conduct, accountability, advocacy, enabling others.
  • Cultivation of collaborative relationships and effective teamwork.

How to apply

To be considered, please address the selection criteria in your application:

  • Current NMBA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
  • Postgraduate qualification in leadership/management (or willingness to work towards within 12 months) and extensive experience in emergency nursing
  • Motivational leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with coaching, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities
  • Ability to set priorities and achieve objectives
  • Experience in creating and maintaining a positive workplace culture and leading nursing services in critical care
  • Focus on service excellence and the ability to apply professional expertise to enhance patient care
  • Ability to manage human, physical and financial resources to deliver safe, efficient care
  • Innovation, self-direction in clinical practice, and commitment to continuous quality improvement
