Osborne Richardson is pleased to partner with Central Highlands Regional Council in Emerald, Queensland, on a permanent role within their Development and Planning department.

This rare opportunity will appeal to experienced Planners seeking a challenging leadership position in statutory planning and development. As Principal Planner - Development Assessment, you will oversee the technical aspects of Council's planning duties, including assessment of applications, provision of professional advice, and other functions as outlined in relevant legislation and local planning instruments.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Program and allocate the timely management of all development assessment applications and associated compliance matters, ensuring adherence to statutory timeframes and Council expectations.

• Utilize your expertise in interpreting and administering relevant legislation and Council policies, applicable to the development assessment unit and at times the Strategic Land Use team.

• Deliver high-quality reports, submissions, and advice to internal and external clients, including conditions of approval, and present these findings to councillors for decision-making purposes.

• Supervise and develop a work team to achieve section and organisational goals, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

• Foster business improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance systems, processes, and people development, contributing to cultural and performance improvement.

• Participate in ongoing training and self-development to maintain expertise and contribute to Council's growth.
