Job Title: Cultural Program Development Specialist
Job Description:
The Department is seeking a skilled and experienced professional to lead the development and implementation of culturally responsive learning programs in partnership with Aboriginal communities.
As a Cultural Program Development Specialist, you will work closely with schools, community groups, and stakeholders to develop and implement Two-way Science initiatives that connect Western Australian Science Curriculum to Aboriginal knowledges.
You will be responsible for coordinating activities, planning, and evaluating culturally responsive initiatives in complex environments. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to build mutually respectful relationships with Aboriginal communities, organisations, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement culturally responsive learning programs in partnership with Aboriginal communities
- Coordinate activities and projects with school curriculum teams, community groups, and stakeholders
- Provide expert advice and guidance on cultural organisational knowledge and risk management
- Identify and address challenges in the initiative's delivery and ensure safe and effective implementation
- Build effective working relationships with Aboriginal school communities and other key stakeholders
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge and understanding of policies, frameworks, and issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- High-level project management skills with a proven ability to plan, coordinate, and evaluate culturally responsive initiatives
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to build mutually respectful relationships and partnerships
Requirements:
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights
- Consent to a National Criminal History Check
- Hold and maintain a current 'C' or 'C.A.' class drivers' licence
- Undertake travel throughout the state, including overnight stays in non-metropolitan locations
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
