Job Description

The Community Engagement Coordinator is a crucial role that supports the delivery and execution of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategy, as well as the UNSW Strategy: Progress for All and associated Societal Impact Framework. This position involves coordinating community engagement initiatives and activities targeting underrepresented cohorts in the engineering sector.

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and managing strategic partnerships within UNSW and externally with relevant stakeholders. They will also oversee the development and implementation of project plans and schedules, contributing to planning processes for key initiatives and activities.

This role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced. The ideal candidate will have substantial project and event coordination experience, including the ability to plan, implement and coordinate complex projects and report on outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and implement community engagement initiatives and activities targeting underrepresented cohorts in the engineering sector.
  • Establish and manage strategic partnerships within UNSW and externally with relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of project plans and schedules.
  • Contribute to planning processes for key initiatives and activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

You should have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and subsequent extensive experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience, preferably within the higher education sectors or working closely with individuals from underrepresented backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated expertise in fostering student engagement and crafting programs/initiatives aimed at enhancing skills and cultivating a sense of community among participants.
  • A passion for the engineering sector and equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Substantial project and event coordination experience, including the ability to plan, implement and coordinate complex projects and report on outcomes.
  • Engagement and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to establish long-term relationships with student, academic and external stakeholders.
