Therapeutic Youth Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Therapeutic Youth Worker to join our Child and Family Services team in Dubbo. As a valued member of our care team, you will play a crucial role in assisting children and young people to fulfill their potential and achieve their goals through day-to-day provision of care, nurturing, and safety in our Out of Home Care Programme.
Key Responsibilities- Meet the daily care needs of children and young people, including personal hygiene, health, and wellbeing, medical, transportation, recreational, and educational support needs.
- Contribute to and maintain a quality care environment that is safe, clean, and personalized to the needs of each child or young person.
- Document accurately events and developments related to the day-to-day provision of care on the child or young person's journey with us.
- Ensure children and young people's NDIS plans are accessible while in our care.
- Utilize trauma-informed practices and supports in day-to-day care provision for children and young people.
- Provide positive behavior support, therapeutic interventions, and safety to children and young people who may experience events of escalation and crisis.
- Encourage and facilitate opportunities for social engagement, recreation, and community involvement.
- Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement individualized support plans.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of children and young people.
- Support young people in developing essential life skills, including education, vocational training, and independent living skills.
- Promote and support positive relationships and connections for children and young people with family, culture, and community.
- Help children and young people reach developmental and life milestones towards a healthy, happy, and thriving life.
We are looking for care team members who have a demonstrated passion for helping children and young people heal and grow through understanding and support. Experienced in offering support to individuals with disabilities and complex support needs, helping them lead fulfilling lives and promoting their independence.
You will understand the importance of trauma-informed care, consistency, and stability in the lives of children and young people. Adapting responses and utilizing a broad range of support strategies. Be committed to meticulous documentation and reporting with a deep commitment to the safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people.
You should have availability to suit a rotating roster that includes mornings, afternoons, weekends, and overnights.
