About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Safety Analysis Manager to join our team at the Office of the Defence Seaworthiness Regulator (ODSwR). As a key member of our Directorate, you will play a critical role in scanning, investigating and analysing safety-related issues and legislative developments within a maritime context.

The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, analysing and engaging with external subject matter experts to determine possible safety consequences and regulatory impacts applicable to the Defence maritime community. You will have high-level analytical and critical thinking skills with an ability to engage with a wide range of people both internal and external to Defence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Maintain Regulatory Knowledge: Develop and maintain an understanding of international and domestic safety regulatory frameworks and how these frameworks impact on the Defence maritime community.
  • Monitor and Analyse Safety Matters: Monitor, research and analyse safety matters that may potentially impact Defence maritime capabilities, activities and the regulated community and propose recommendations and regulatory options.
  • Liaise with Stakeholders: Liaise with stakeholders to investigate and gather relevant information and understand policies and legislation in the context of maritime environment to achieve strategic outcomes.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise: Provide subject matter expertise to support broader organisational regulatory, policy, assurance and compliance activities.

Our Team

The ODSwR is an independent Defence Regulator tasked with managing the Defence Seaworthiness Management System (DSwMS), a Defence-wide maritime risk management system. Our team works closely together to achieve strategic outcomes, and we are looking for someone who shares our passion for maritime safety and regulation.

What We Offer
