About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Financial Ombudsman to join our team at AFCA, specializing in superannuation dispute resolution. As a key member of our decision-making team, you will play a crucial role in resolving complex complaints and engaging with industry and consumer groups to address important issues affecting superannuation customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Make decisions, individually or as part of a panel, on standard and complex complaints in accordance with AFCA rules and fairness principles.
  • Provide professional and technical leadership across AFCA, coaching and mentoring Adjudicators, caseworkers, and others.
  • Develop AFCA approaches and present at external conferences as a subject matter expert.
  • Support AFCA's relationships with consumer groups, government bodies, regulators, AFCA members, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Legal qualifications and a significant track record of achievement at senior executive level within the superannuation industry or a related field.
  • Sound knowledge of financial services law, practice, and regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to quickly get to the heart of complex issues and efficiently handle a busy caseload.
  • Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Resilience, focus, determination, and excellent engagement skills.
