About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Ombudsman to join our team at AFCA, responsible for resolving complaints and disputes in the superannuation sector. As a key member of our decision-making team, you will play a critical role in ensuring fair outcomes for customers and promoting good community outcomes in the sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Make decisions on standard and complex complaints in accordance with AFCA rules and fairness principles
  • Provide professional and technical leadership across AFCA, coaching and mentoring Adjudicators, caseworkers, and others
  • Develop AFCA approaches and present at external conferences as a subject matter expert
  • Support AFCA's relationships with consumer groups, government bodies, regulators, and industry stakeholders
Requirements
  • Legal qualifications and significant track record of achievement at senior executive level within the superannuation industry or a related field
  • Sound knowledge of financial services law, practice, and regulations
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to handle complex issues, and efficient caseload management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of interpersonal skills
  • Resilience, focus, determination, and excellent engagement skills
