Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Officer to join our team at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. As a Research Officer, you will play a key role in conducting original research under limited supervision and contributing to team and Garvan research projects.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will have a PhD degree in a related area of science or engineering, good statistical knowledge and programming skills, and experience in analysing and interpreting genomics data. You will be comfortable working with Unix and in an HPC environment, proficient in at least one scripting language (R, Python), and familiar with version control systems.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct original research under limited supervision and contribute to team and Garvan research projects
- Present original research at national/international scientific conferences and as invited to seminars locally and/or nationally
- Co-supervise and mentor students and junior research staff
- Provision of supervisory assistance in preparation of research grant proposals, including contribution of data
