Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Officer to join our team at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting independent research projects, collaborating with senior scientists, and contributing to the development of new medical therapies.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct original research under limited supervision and make contributions to team and Garvan research projects
- Present original research at national/international scientific conferences and seminars
- Co-supervise and mentor students and junior research staff
- Provision of supervisory assistance in preparation of research grant proposals
- Contribute to improvements in techniques, quantitative methods, and quality control
- PhD or MD in molecular biology, genomics, oncology, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience
- Experience with scRNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics techniques
- Experience in working with clinical samples
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills for written reports and oral presentations
- Capacity to work collaboratively with researchers across laboratories
