Job Opportunity

Aboriginal Wellbeing Counsellor and Peer Practitioner sought to provide case management, outreach, and recovery-oriented supports to improve the mental health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people.

  • Establish strong connections to formal and informal supports within local communities.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their interests, family, and community connections.
  • Facilitate access to appropriate community supports and ensure clients' rights to access services are upheld.
  • Maintain a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented approach.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Aboriginality.
  • Current registration with ACA or equivalent (student acceptable).
  • A sound knowledge of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander communities and relevant organisations within Shoalhaven.
  • Demonstrated understanding of social & emotional health and wellbeing issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • NSW Drivers license.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
