Guide Dog Mobility Instructor
About Us:We are a team of dedicated professionals passionate about enhancing independence and mobility for individuals with vision impairment. Our Guide Dog Services Team is committed to providing life-changing support and care to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess and train guide dogs to meet the highest standards, based on International Guide Dog Federation guidelines.
- Train guide dogs to obey and respond to verbal and non-verbal commands and address behavioural issues through structured training programs.
- Collaborate with a supportive team to match guide dogs with clients, creating partnerships that foster independence and confidence.
- Develop and deliver personalized Guide Dog Client Training Programs, offering both in-centre and in-home support to empower clients to live fuller, more independent lives.
- Ensure each guide dog receives the best possible care and stay current with the latest trends, techniques, and developments in guide dog training.
- A recognised qualification in Guide Dog Mobility from the International Guide Dog Federation.
- An understanding of Guide Dog Mobility theory and practices, along with knowledge of relevant community resources.
- Strong organisational skills and physical capability to meet the demands of the role.
- Effective communication skills, teamwork, and public presentation skills.
- Experience working in IGDF-accredited organisations and a background in teaching or training adults and children.
