Proactive Health, Safety & Environment Leader

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to drive bold improvements in health, safety, wellbeing and environmental outcomes across national operations.

This newly created role will be pivotal in building and embedding a proactive, people-focused health and safety culture across teams. You will act as a strategic partner to operational leaders, lead initiatives, manage risk, support incident investigations, and coach teams to continuously improve HSE performance across the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive HSE strategy, plans, and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Provide expert guidance and practical support to operational leaders across multiple sites.
  • Investigate health, safety, and environmental incidents; identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • BUILD capability at all levels through training, mentoring, and hands-on partnership.
  • Contribute to broader sustainability initiatives in collaboration with the Environment and Sustainability team.
  • Lead continuous improvement in HSE processes, reporting, and compliance across the Intermodal, Linehaul, and Fleet teams.
About the Role:

You are an HSE professional who thrives on creating safer, healthier workplaces and enjoys working in fast-paced operational environments. You're known for your people-first approach, strong stakeholder relationships, and your ability to influence and drive results.

Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in a similar HSE advisor or business partner role, ideally in transport, logistics or heavy industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in incident investigation and driving continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching and influencing skills.
