Compassionate Cancer Care Specialist

As a dedicated healthcare professional, you will play a vital role in delivering holistic health promotion, community education, and culturally safe cancer care pathways. Collaborating with local hospitals, palliative care services, and clinic staff will strengthen referral processes and build trust within the community.


Responsibilities:
  • Promote and embed cancer screening resources across community programs.
  • Support clients and families in navigating cancer services and palliative care pathways.
  • Coordinate planning with hospitals and Aboriginal Medical Services to ensure culturally safe referrals.
  • Deliver health promotion activities, yarning circles, and community education.
  • Assist in developing quality improvement processes and culturally appropriate learning materials.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

Essential

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience in community health, chronic disease, oncology, or related programs.
  • Current QLD Driver's Licence, First Aid/CPR, Blue Card, and National Police Check.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Cultural awareness working rural and remote and with Aboriginal and Torres Island communities.

Desirable

  • Experience in cancer screening, oncology nursing, or palliative care.
  • Previous work in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services or rural health.
  • IT skills including Microsoft Office.
