Job Title: Senior Lawyer, Drug and Alcohol Treatment Court

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced criminal lawyer to work as a senior attorney in our therapeutic courts division.

About the Role:
  • Manage complex criminal casework and advocate for clients on drug treatment orders in county court proceedings.
  • Provide high-quality legal counsel and act as an advocate for clients.
  • Mentor junior lawyers, supervise their work, and participate in professional education when required.

This position offers excellent opportunities to develop leadership and mentoring skills while contributing to the strategic direction of our program focused on improving services for priority clients.

About You:
  • You will possess significant knowledge and practical experience in law and relevant procedures, particularly in criminal law and therapeutic justice-related matters.
  • You will have effective casework, dispute resolution, and advocacy skills.
  • You will have previous experience supervising junior lawyers and be willing to take on a mentoring role.
  • You will have high-level interpersonal skills, including forming productive professional relationships and communicating effectively with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
  • A current Australian practicing certificate is mandatory.

We prioritize the safety and well-being of children. This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.
