Job Opportunity:

Magistrate

The Attorney-General is seeking qualified individuals to serve as Magistrates in Victoria.

As a Magistrate, you will play a vital role in upholding justice and maintaining public trust in the judicial system.

You will preside over court hearings, make informed decisions, and ensure that the legal process is fair and impartial.

  • Substantial legal experience
  • Knowledge of the jurisdiction of the Magistrates' Court and/or the Children's Court
  • High integrity
  • Sound judgement
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Communication skills
Key Skills:

Practitioners with expertise in family violence, criminal law, and/or Children's Court proceedings are highly encouraged to apply.

Following appointment, Magistrates may be assigned to various courts throughout the state, including Melbourne Magistrates' Court and other regional courts.

Magistrates for the Children's Court will be assigned by the President of the Children's Court in consultation with the Chief Magistrate.
