About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned legal professional to provide expert advice and representation for clients on Drug Treatment Orders in the County Court.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex criminal cases with efficiency and effectiveness
  • Deliver compelling in-court advocacy
  • Provide duty lawyer services
  • Counsel clients on legal matters

In this role, you will contribute to the growth and development of our in-house legal practice by mentoring junior lawyers and participating in ongoing professional education.

This presents an exciting opportunity for a skilled criminal lawyer looking to expand their expertise in leadership and mentoring while contributing to the strategic direction of our program focused on enhancing services for priority clients.

The position is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A deep understanding of law and court procedures, particularly in criminal law and therapeutic justice related matters.
  • Excellent casework, dispute resolution, and advocacy skills.
  • Prior experience supervising junior lawyers, with a genuine interest in taking on a mentorship role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective communication with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
  • A current Australian practicing certificate which entitles you to practice in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
