About the Role
The Canterbury-Bankstown Council is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Officer to join our Sustainable Futures Unit. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to make a positive impact on our community by contributing to the prevention and management of litter in town centres and parks through bin infrastructure and behaviour change programs.
Key Responsibilities
As a Project Officer, you will be responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating community education, engagement, and behaviour change programs to maintain and improve public amenity. Your key duties will include:
- Researching and implementing solutions for complex litter issues in town centres and parks
- Working closely with internal units to ensure that litter infrastructure meets the needs of the community and ensures the safety and efficacy of service for collection staff
- Managing grants and alternate funding sources that align with relevant strategies, policies, and plans
- Maintaining, monitoring, and evaluating data, programs, initiatives, and resources to continuously improve and meet objectives
- Providing specialist advice to council, state, and local governments, industry, and community on litter, waste, and resource recovery issues
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Management, Science, or similar, and/or relevant industry experience supported by environmental sustainability experience
- A Class 'C' Driver's Licence
- Proven skills in project management, including planning, establishing priorities, evaluation, and allocation and management of resources and budget
- Demonstrated skills and experience in the development, delivery, and evaluation of education and engagement resources, behaviour change programs, and events
