
Business Growth Manager

As a key player in our business operations, you will be responsible for leading teams and driving growth across various sectors, including construction, commercial, land development, civil infrastructure, and transport. This is an exceptional opportunity to take on a leadership role within a dynamic organization and contribute to its expansion.
We are currently engaged in some of Canberra's most exciting projects, and we are seeking an experienced leader to join our team. In this role, you will utilize your existing client base and connections to expand our existing client relationships, strengthen current ties, and explore new strategic project pursuits in the ACT Region.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing annual business plans and budgets in collaboration with senior leaders.
- Managing operational areas within their region, including resource management, utilization, overhead control, and gross margin management.
- Driving growth and continuous improvement, including assisting in developing and implementing improvement plans for underperforming operations as it applies within their region.
- Partnering with colleagues to drive collaboration and work sharing across the organization to meet overall business objectives.
- Providing leadership and direction to all staff and ensuring that business unit objectives, actions, and focus are clearly communicated.
- Identifying opportunities to reinforce and further develop a high-performance culture with a focus on talent, productivity, and financial performance.
- Managing the regional talent lifecycle, including recruitment, career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching, mentoring, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development.
- Collaborating with project delivery teams and Practice Leaders to drive quality and timely delivery of project deliverables to meet but preferably exceed client expectations.
- Responsible for client relationships, strategic project pursuits, and major project leadership within their region and working towards sustainable sector growth.
Key requirements for this role include:
- Team leadership – demonstrated experience in successfully managing teams, with preference given to those managing teams >20 people.
- Financial acumen – demonstrated understanding of the financial levers in a consulting business and a proven ability to deliver results while maintaining a focus on people.
- Commercial awareness – a sound understanding of contracts and commercial arrangements on projects, along with well-developed problem-solving and negotiation skills to resolve issues.
- Project management – demonstrated experience in managing and owning the performance of a large portfolio of projects and implementing recovery plans to address performance issues.
- Interpersonal skills – a proven ability to successfully manage internal stakeholders across multiple business lines and functions to remove internal barriers and achieve a collaborative approach.
- Client focus – demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships leading to repeat work.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Minimum of 10 years' related work, leadership, financial management, and consulting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
