Job Description

This role is responsible for providing clinical leadership and direction to a team of professionals working with youth who are experiencing challenges related to mental health and addictions. The Mental Health and Addictions Clinician will champion the Pan-Canadian Guiding Principles of Integrated Youth Services and provide assessment, crisis intervention, bridge clinical treatment, and case management services.

The successful candidate will have experience working with vulnerable populations and be able to work independently, as part of a team, and with guidance. They will also have exceptional attention to detail and verbal and written communication skills.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Registered or eligible to be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers.
  • Minimum two years of clinical experience working in youth and young adult mental health/addictions/substance use services required; three to five years preferred.
  • Valid NS driver's license, regular access to a reliable vehicle, and appropriate insurance to transport clients.
  • Current and up-to-date CPR and First Aid training.
  • Current and up-to-date Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training or willingness to obtain within 3 months of employment.
  • Brain Story training or willingness to obtain within 3 months of employment.
  • Mental Health First Aid training or willingness to obtain within 3 months of employment.
  • Compassion, empathy, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with and advocating for vulnerable populations.
  • Ability to work effectively with others towards shared goals.
  • Highly organized and ability to work well under pressure.
