Job Title:

Mental Health and Addiction Clinician

About the Role:

This role champions the Pan-Canadian Guiding Principles of Integrated Youth Services (IYS) and provides clinical leadership for a site-based staff team.

  • Provide assessment, crisis intervention, treatment planning, case management, referrals, and advocacy for youth aged 12 to 25 with mental health and addiction challenges.
  • Embody a holistic approach to youth well-being informed by IYS principles, social determinants of health, and equity, diversity, inclusion, reconciliation, accessibility, and anti-racism (EDIRAA).
Main Responsibilities:
  • Offer clinical direction and oversight for youth and caregiver services provided by site staff members.
  • Where required, provide evidence-based treatment, case management, and coordinated care transfer to external addiction and mental health services.
  • Liaise with external treatment providers and offer case management for youth receiving external services.
  • Participate in IYS clinicians' community meetings and relevant working groups.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Registration or eligibility with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers is mandatory.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working in youth and young adult mental health/addictions/substance use services is required; three to five years preferred.
Work Environment:
  • Travel may be necessary.
  • Manual dexterity is required for using a desktop computer and peripherals.
