Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Cybersecurity and Risk Management Director to lead our Security Engineering team in shaping the future of Canva's security landscape.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced cybersecurity professional to join our fast-paced environment and make a significant impact on our company's growth.

  • As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to mitigate risks and threats across our systems and data.
  • You will lead multiple teams across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK to provide Threat Intelligence, Detection & Hunting, and Incident Response capabilities.
  • Your mission will be to set a clear vision for security detection and response across Canva, develop strategies and roadmaps, and coach team leads to create impactful roadmaps and build empowered teams.

In this role, you will foster a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and growth across security engineering teams. You will also build strong partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure security initiatives align with company objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive security strategies to protect Canva's systems and data from information security threats.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain robust security controls and processes.
  • Analyze threat intelligence and incident response data to inform risk management and drive meaningful change.
  • Maintain open communication channels with executive stakeholders to ensure alignment on security initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the security team.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience leading Information Security teams in Detection & Response domains.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling security operations, threat detection, or incident response programs in high-growth technology environments.
  • Strong technical understanding of modern security tools, threat detection methodologies, and incident response procedures.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining security metrics programs and communicating effectively with executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead by example, promoting Canva's values, no-blame mentality, and engineering values.
