Quality Systems Lead

We are seeking an experienced Quality Systems Lead to support our evolving program.

About the Role:
  • This position is responsible for leading and embedding a culture of First Time Quality (FTQ) and continuous improvement in a complex production environment.
  • You will develop and drive Quality Management System (QMS) projects and initiatives aligned with the program's strategic plan, focusing on scalability, repeatability, and compliance.
  • Your key responsibilities include presenting quality project plans, technical roadmaps, risk assessments, and recommendations that balance production throughput with stringent quality standards.
  • You will influence decision-making processes, reconcile differing priorities and workflows, and train internal teams to build capabilities that support a shift towards a production mindset while maintaining quality rigor.
  • You will review and validate product non-conformances, dispositions, quality procedures, and engineering requirements, ensuring alignment with regulatory frameworks.
  • You will perform detailed analysis to evaluate product, process, and operational quality against QMS requirements, contract obligations, and government regulations.
  • You will lead root cause analysis efforts for process non-conformances, collaborating with technical experts to implement sustainable corrective actions.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years' experience in Quality Management Systems within aviation, aerospace production, or MRO environments.
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, aviation, quality management, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in ISO 9001 and AS 9100 standards, with practical application in production and MRO contexts.
  • Working knowledge of Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) Parts 145, 21J, and familiarity with Part 21G (or CASA/EASA equivalents).
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to independently resolve complex quality issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to engage senior stakeholders across diverse teams.
  • Experience coaching and developing team members to adapt to changing operational mindsets and quality expectations.
  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills under pressure.
  • Australian Citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Department of Defence clearance up to TOP SECRET level.
