Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join as an Electrical Inspector in the Engineering Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advanced technical information, advice, education, and compliance services that contribute to harm prevention and improvements in relation to hazardous electrical systems.

About the Role:

  • Provide Advanced Technical Advice: Provide safe work practices and how to comply with work health and safety and associated legislation.
  • Participate in Strategic Initiatives: Actively participate in state-wide strategic industry initiatives to address emerging trends and provide input to the national agenda.
  • Represent: Facilitate and meet with Industry Associations, attend industry forums, and represent.
  • Conduct Workplace Visits and Investigations: Conduct workplace visits and complex investigations into workplace incidents, injuries, and fatalities involving electrical systems.
  • Provide Guidance and Support: Provide advice, guidance, support, and dispute resolution to industry, workers, and other government agencies on prevention and response matters relating to electrical engineering discipline.
  • Manage Complex Issues: Manage complex technical issues while balancing stakeholder interests and ensuring WHS outcomes are achieved and promoted.
  • Conduct Research: Conduct research to identify, plan, and deliver strategies in relation to harm prevention strategies.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or similar technical qualifications.
  • Industry Experience: Relevant industry experience in one or more of the following: Electrical system planning or design; Electrical high voltage management; forensic engineering; functional safety, hazardous plant and equipment design or management, electro mechanics, electrical infrastructure, electrical construction design, electrical safety.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in providing specialist advice and strategic leadership regarding compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and electrical engineering codes of practice.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to proactively engage and influence key stakeholders influence behaviour, undertake change management processes, and lead stakeholder engagements.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Resilience: Well-established resilience skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team.
  • High-Level Communication: High-level written communication skills and an ability to prepare comprehensive SME reports.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated experience in managing and leading programs or projects of work.
  • Time Management: Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a timely manner.

Essential Requirements:

  • Travel and Remote Work: Ability to travel, work remotely, and out of usual business hours.
  • Driver's License: Hold a NSW 'C' class drivers' licence with a satisfactory safe driving record and a requirement to maintain the safe driving record throughout employment.
  • Criminal Record Check: Satisfactory criminal record check.
  • Medical Assessment: Satisfactory medical assessment capacity regarding physical and psychological impacts of the inherent duties of the role.
  • New Inspector Training Program: Undertake the 12-month New Inspector Training Program (NITP).
