Commercial Contracts Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Contracts Specialist to provide commercial support and drive favourable outcomes for our Australian and APAC Minerals business. The role encompasses reviewing and negotiating tenders, customer supply contracts, and addressing other commercial issues for the Australasian region.

The Commercial Contracts Specialist will report directly to the Director of Strategy - APAC and work with our Sales Directors, General Managers, legal team, and other key stakeholders to achieve desired commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support commercial contract negotiations, including coordinating review within tender deadlines, supporting general manager review, obtaining required input/approvals from stakeholders & legal teams, preparing and reviewing commercial risk, and finalizing approval/execution by business.

  • Oversee and review contract execution/compliance and manage commercial contracts, including reviewing variation requests, change requests, directions, orders, and notices under contract terms.

  • Have knowledge on the Weir Group Commercial manual and be able to review/understand business risk/support business decisions.

  • Support the Regional Strategic Leadership team on commercial issues as they arise.

  • Be familiar with Weir Group Insurance policies and advise the business on coverage issues in connection with customer supply contracts.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of tender and/or commercial contract experience as contract manager or advisor.

  • Mining/engineering/construction industry experience desirable but not required.

  • Ability to read, analyse, and understand commercial ramifications of contract provisions.

  • Ability to draft legal contract amendments/clauses.

  • Good commercial sense/excellent commercial contracting skills.

  • Effective communicator who can speak fluently about business/legal priorities, risk, and challenges.
