Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional and operational leadership and direction for the service and staff, ensuring a high level of clinical governance and adherence to relevant standards.
  • Lead and support the clinical team by providing education opportunities, professional development, clinical supervision, and mentoring, promoting excellence in patient care.
  • Ensure the unit is adequately and appropriately resourced, applying business planning methodology to optimize material, financial, and human resources.
  • Accountable for ensuring practice is contemporary, evidence-based, and continually monitoring and evaluating service delivery in relation to performance indicators, clinical governance, and relevant standards.
  • Responsible for facilitating and providing quality and cost-effective services consistent with contemporary standards and best practice, demonstrating a high level of proficiency in clinical and management knowledge.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure safety and promote excellence and service improvement, utilizing data systems and analysis to inform service improvement opportunities.
  • Provide effective human resources management, assuming individual accountability to meet professional practice standards relevant to the position.
Staffing Responsibilities
  • The NUM position directly supervises the nursing workforce and is responsible for the clinical care provided, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure excellence of clinical care.
Requirements
  • Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Postgraduate qualification in health service management and experience in the same.
  • Advanced level of clinical management and professional practice, preferably at Level 7.
  • Demonstrated leadership and coordination of a nursing/midwifery, and/or healthcare team, and the provision of clinical support and expertise.
  • Demonstrated implementation of a quality and risk management framework to improve quality of care and work environment.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound computer software and database entry skills.
Essential Documentation/Declarations
  • Registered Nurse qualifications and AHPRA registration, demonstrating compliance with professional standards.
  • Police Check with no notable offences, ensuring suitability for employment.
  • Australian Workers Rights documentation, affirming eligibility for employment in Australia.
  • Compliance with Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) Certification and proof of vaccination against COVID-19 & Influenza, prioritizing patient and staff safety.
  • Reliable Transportation, enabling timely attendance for shifts and on-call duties.
