About the Role:

This position coordinates and manages the release of information in accordance with applicable legislation, including the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic) and other relevant laws.

It involves acting as a decision-maker for FOI requests, managing requests for personal, health, and corporate information.

Duties:

  • Provide expert advice on FOI administration, guidelines, and processes
  • Draft correspondence, reports, and briefings related to FOI matters
  • Mentor, train, and develop team members
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, to resolve FOI issues
  • Represent the organization in FOI forums and contribute to policy development
  • Develop and deliver FOI training and awareness programs
  • Promote a culture of compliance and accountability in handling information requests

Key Skills and Qualifications:

We are looking for a qualified professional with experience in managing information release processes in compliance with legislation. Your skills and qualifications should include:

  • Relevant qualification in law, information management, or data protection
  • Knowledge of the FOI Act 1982 (Vic) and related regulations
  • Ability to interpret and apply the FOI Act in complex scenarios
  • Knowledge of the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic), the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic), and preferably the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022
