Job Title: Marine Systems Technician
OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Systems Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe maintenance of Naval vessels during maintenance periods.
The role involves working collectively with Prime Contractors, Navy Engineering staff, and repair agents to achieve this goal. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about engineering and safety.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the system/equipment owner, confirm electrical/mechanical isolation requirements.
- Eliminate the need to conduct working on live electrical equipment.
- Understand testing procedures and be competent in the use of testing equipment.
- Assess and approve all activities where hazardous energy may be present and issue permit to work.
- Attend the worksite and verify all isolations are complete.
- Report findings to the Critical Risk Management Coordinator and enter into the Event Management System or equivalent.
- Complete personal danger tags and record details according to system/equipment owners' processes.
- On completion of the activity, inspect the workplace and remove personal danger tags if safe to do so.
- Conduct equipment inspections using Allship proformas.
- Attend Critical Risk meetings as the Allship Engineering representative.
- Liaise with clients to prioritise scheduling of isolations.
- Conduct High-Risk tasks within scope of High-Risk Work Licence.
- Ensure own safety and the safety of people around you at all times.
- Assist in WHS consultation by providing feedback through Pre-Start meetings, Toolbox Talks and Safety Stand-downs.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (MEM30205) or higher.
- Construction white card.
- C class driver's licence.
- RIIWHS202E - Enter and work in confined spaces (desirable).
- RIIRIS201E - Conduct local risk control (desirable).
- MSMWHS201 - Conduct hazard analysis (desirable).
- MSMWHS217 - Gas test atmospheres (desirable).
- MSMPER200 - Work in accordance with an issued permit (desirable).
- MSMPER300 - Issue work permits (desirable).
