Maritime Warfare Exercise Planner

This role is responsible for supporting the planning, management, and execution of force generation sea combat exercises. The primary location of work will be in an office setting at a headquarters facility in Sydney, Australia. However, there may be requirements to travel in support of exercise planning and execution, as well as potential deployments into the field or aboard military vessels and aircraft.

The ideal candidate will have previous military experience as a Naval Principal Warfare Officer or Maritime Warfare Officer, or alternatively, ex-Navy/RAAF officer with military communications experience. They should also possess operational experience, joint planning or execution experience, and a strong background in surface warfare. Additionally, experience as an Observer/Trainer would be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the planning, management, and execution of single-service joint-enabled collective training activities from a Surface Warfare perspective.
  • Draft communications architecture plans for both exercise participants and exercise control.
  • Maintain a knowledge of Military Communications equipment and procedures.
  • Provide advice to senior staff regarding exercise information exchange protocols and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Previous military experience as Naval Principal Warfare Officer/Maritime Warfare Officer highly regarded.
  • Ex-Navy/RAAF officer with military communications experience.
  • Previous operational experience.
  • Previous joint planning or execution experience.
  • SME in surface warfare.
  • Previous experience as Observer/Trainer.
