About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate caregiver to join our team at Melba Support Services in Ballarat.

As a Disability Support Worker, you will work alongside an engaged, committed, and expert team to ensure the people we support lead happy and fulfilling lives.

Melba is a well-established, values-based not-for-profit organisation providing disability support services for over 40 years. Our services include accommodation, participation & learning, respite care, employment, volunteering, and skill building.

About You:

We are looking for individuals with a diverse range of experience, including those who have worked in the sector or cared for family members, friends, or community members. You may be a young person looking to establish a career that is rewarding and secure or someone who has been on a career break and is now looking to return to work.

Requirements

We require a passion for enabling and working with people. You should be comfortable providing daily living support and willing to learn new skills and undertake ongoing training. A willingness to work as part of a team is essential.

You will also need to bring with you or be willing to obtain: NDIS Worker screening Check, Working with Children Check, Unrestricted Australian Driver's License, Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status, and Current First Aid Certificate with CPR.

What You'll Do:

  • Implement support plans based on supported persons needs, preferences, and interests.
  • Help with all aspects of daily living from getting up in the morning to going to bed at night.
  • Aid people to get to their chosen activities like social events, work, and appointments.
  • Promote personal choice and control for the person.
  • Assist with personal care & hygiene and household duties like cleaning, cooking, and washing.
  • Administer medication.
