Job Title: EAL/D Teacher

The Director of Schools invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced personnel for this permanent full-time position as an EAL/D Teacher at St Francis Catholic College, Edmondson Park.

Job Summary

This position sits within the Learning K-12 Team, requiring significant experience in curriculum and the capacity to support EAL/D students within Primary Schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the School Leadership Team and CEDoW EAL/D Officers to implement the EAL/D Management Plan responsibilities.
  • Design and facilitate professional learning opportunities to build teacher capacity.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and respond to the collection of student work samples and assessment data.
  • Support EAL/D students' learning needs through collaborative planning, co-teaching with classroom teachers, and designing student learning plans.
Essential Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader Catholic Church.
  • Apply expert knowledge of the diverse needs of students of EAL/D to support their full participation in learning.
  • Facilitate the analysis of student work samples using the ACARA EAL/D Learning Progressions (and/or The ESL Scales) to direct teaching and learning.
  • Use a range of assessment strategies and analyze data to inform student learning.
General Capabilities

  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Qualifications
  • University TESOL training or a willingness to undertake such training.
  • Appropriate qualifications for teaching Primary K-6.
  • Accredited Level B to teach Religious Education in accordance with To Work, Teach and Lead policy or a commitment to gain this level within the first 5 years of employment with CEDoW.
  • The applicant must be accredited with NESA to teach in NSW.
Working with Children Clearance

This role is classified as child-related work and therefore a Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to your employment with CEDoW.
