The Director of Schools invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced personnel for this permanent full-time position as an EAL/D Teacher at St Francis Catholic College, Edmondson Park.
Job SummaryThis position sits within the Learning K-12 Team, requiring significant experience in curriculum and the capacity to support EAL/D students within Primary Schools. The EAL/D Teacher will be part of a wider EAL/D team and will be required to:
- Collaborate with the School Leadership Team and CEDoW EAL/D Officers.
- Work within the school team to implement the EAL/D Management Plan responsibilities.
- Design and facilitate professional learning opportunities to build teacher capacity.
- Coordinate, facilitate, and respond to the collection of student work samples and assessment data.
- Support EAL/D students' learning needs through collaborative planning, co-teaching with classroom teachers, and designing student learning plans.
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- A deep understanding and commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader Catholic Church.
- A well-articulated understanding and application of student-centred, quality EAL/D pedagogical practices grounded in current evidence-based research.
- The ability to identify EAL/D students' needs and plan for appropriate student support K-6.
- Expert knowledge of the diverse needs of students of EAL/D to support their full participation in learning.
- The ability to facilitate the analysis of student work samples using the ACARA EAL/D Learning Progressions (and/or The ESL Scales) to direct teaching and learning.
- The use of a range of assessment strategies and analysing data to inform student learning.
- Commitment to engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers, and the wider school community.
The successful applicant will possess:
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
The successful applicant will hold:
- University TESOL training or a willingness to undertake such training.
- Appropriate qualifications for teaching Primary K-6.
- Accredited Level B to teach Religious Education in accordance with To Work, Teach and Lead policy or a commitment to gain this level within the first 5 years of employment with CEDoW.
- The applicant must be accredited with NESA to teach in NSW.
This role is classified as child-related work and therefore a Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to employment with CEDoW.
