Measuring Regional Resilience to Economic Shocks

This project aims to develop a research program that expands our understanding of regional economic processes and external and internal economic shocks. The successful applicant will work under the guidance of experienced supervisors to investigate ways economic resilience can be measured at a spatial and regional level in Australia.

Within this research program, the candidate will build upon a larger project funded by an Australian Research Council Discovery Grant, which examined how Australian regions coped with economic and employment shocks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The research will focus on developing advanced spatial and regional economic analytical techniques with the support of experienced supervisors.

This project offers a unique opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field and contribute to the development of new knowledge in regional economic processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A PhD in a relevant field or strong background in economics, geography, or a related field
