Electrical Design Specialist Role

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to fill this challenging position.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about delivering high-quality electrical designs and taking on leadership responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed technical deliverables, creating and updating electrical and control system documents, conducting site inspections, and maintaining AutoCAD infrastructure and design tool procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Detail: Interpret conceptual designs and transform them into detailed technical deliverables.
  • Drawing Preparation: Create and update electrical and control system deliverables, including Single Line Diagrams, Schematics, P&ID's, Cable Block Diagrams, Termination Diagrams, Loop Diagrams, Hookup Diagrams, Equipment BOM's, and Panel Arrangements.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct site inspections to gather data and verify existing drawings.
  • Support & Maintenance: Maintain AutoCAD infrastructure and design tool procedures, including assessing the most appropriate software and tools and driving continual improvement.
  • Training & Audits: Train new starters in MIPAC's AutoCAD and design tool procedures and conduct regular audits.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with drafters, designers, and engineers to ensure timely project completion.
  • Standards Compliance: Ensure consistency and compliance with design standards across relevant Australian Standards.
  • AutoCAD Administration: Maintain AutoCAD standards and library, ensuring that client CAD standards are implemented.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering (or recognised equivalent) with relevant industry experience.
  • Proven experience as an Electrical/Instrumentation/Control Detail Draftsperson.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD (Advanced to Expert level), and/or MicroStation.
  • Proficiency in design tools like AVEVA Instrumentation and Eplan.
  • Experience in 3D modelling software.
  • Strong oral communication skills for effective team interaction.
  • High level of computer literacy and excellent mathematical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and ideally an understanding of ISO 9001 principles.
  • Previous experience overseeing and reviewing design work.
  • Focused and ability to prioritise workload to ensure efficient project delivery.
