Job Title: Department Liaison Officer

About the Role

The Department Liaison Officer will play a crucial role in facilitating strong communication, efficient and effective flow of information and advice between the department and the Minister and their office.

This is a complex and challenging environment that requires excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve agreed outcomes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: An ability to communicate, liaise and negotiate appropriately with a range of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring tasks are completed in line with agreed expectations.
  • Problem Solving: Seeks all relevant information for problem solving; investigates and probes for the facts; liaises with stakeholders; analyses issues from different perspectives and draws sound inferences from information available.
  • Teamwork: Cooperates and works well with others in pursuit of team goals, collaborates and shares information, shows consideration, concern and respect for others' feelings and ideas, accommodates and works well with the different working styles of others.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Facilitating relationships between the Minister and the department
  • Coordinating briefings and correspondence for the Minister
  • Providing accurate and timely advice on departmental liaison matters
  • Maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders

Working Arrangements

This is a fixed-term position to 30 October 2026.
