Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Pact Group Full time

Health and Safety Advisor

Full-time

Company Overview

At Pact Group, we are at the forefront of sustainable packaging solutions, focusing on a comprehensive product life cycle approach. Our collaboration spans from global brands to local producers, ensuring that supply chain efficiencies and sustainable practices are embedded in our design and manufacturing processes.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Advisor to oversee and ensure the effective implementation of Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability (HSES) systems at our manufacturing site. This role is crucial in upholding our commitment to providing a safe working environment in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

As a key HSES Leader, you will bridge the gap between site-level operations and group-level initiatives, championing the Group HSES System (Policies, Procedures, and Tools). Your responsibilities will include engaging with Site Management, conducting thorough inspections, and performing audits.

You will play a vital role in assessing and enhancing controls for hazardous and high-risk activities, overseeing critical incidents, and supporting incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions. This encompasses addressing incidents related to health, pollution, contamination, and waste management.

Additionally, you will assist in managing injury processes and preparing comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental reports, while also liaising with external regulatory bodies to foster continuous improvement within the Group HSES System.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee health, safety, and environmental incidents, supporting sites with incident investigations and corrective action follow-ups. Engage with external regulatory bodies, such as WorkSafe and EPA, to recommend improvements for the Group HSES System. Develop and implement environmental, health, and safety programs. Identify prevalent health and safety hazards at the site and establish effective control measures. Promote a culture of zero harm by providing expert guidance and driving the implementation of the Group HSES system. Manage incident responses and investigations. Establish risk management and mitigation strategies. Monitor and interpret changes in regulatory requirements and communicate these effectively. Support the development and coordination of strategic initiatives. Train and educate site leaders on Pact's safety management systems.

Qualifications:

In-depth knowledge of Health and Safety Codes of Practice, Standards, and associated obligations. Proficient in hazard identification, risk management, and incident investigation. Experience in developing, implementing, and auditing Safety or Environmental Management Systems. High level of computer proficiency and strong administrative skills. Commitment to sustainability and fostering a respectful workplace. Background in manufacturing or large, multinational environments. Strong initiative and ability to work independently from the HSES team.
