About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Control Systems Engineer, Power to join our team in Australia. As a key member of our Generation & New Energy team, you will be responsible for leading the design of industrial control systems and collaborating with electrical engineers to design electrical protection systems for power stations.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from thermal and renewable generation to transmission and distribution. You will have the chance to work with talented professionals and clients to explore the viability and feasibility of emerging energy generation alternatives.

As a technical leader, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in power generation, including experience in thermal and renewable generation, gas turbines, coal-fired power stations, and hydro power stations. You will also be responsible for undertaking and leading design of power station control and instrumentation systems, including PLC and DCS based systems, functional safety systems, and EEHA designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise in power generation, including thermal and renewable generation
  • Lead the design of power station control and instrumentation systems
  • Undertake and lead design of control and protection system communication systems
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to design electrical protection systems
  • Accountable for electrical engineering analysis and undertakings
  • Coach others in the identification and management of ethical issues
  • Proactively maintain effective networks and relevant industry relationships
  • Seek information to understand client needs and effectively anticipate and meet client needs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering) or Equivalent
  • Chartered status CPENG and registered (RPEQ, RPEV)
  • Significant experience in thermal and renewable generation
  • Demonstrated delivery of several complex power generation projects
  • Extensive relevant experience with some time spent within a consultancy
  • Demonstrated competence in providing key technical expertise across a broad range of high-profile projects
  • Competent in managing risk on substantial projects
  • High level skills in applying safety in design practices and processes
