About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal and Senior Engineer to join our Power System Performance and Connections team at Powerlink. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of Queensland's energy transmission network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead projects and investigations to model and simulate power system behavior, ensuring network capacity and performance meet standards.
  • Assess the impact of renewable energy integration on network performance, limitations, security, and development.
  • Make recommendations on the connection of Pumped Hydro and Synchronous Condensers to the network.
  • Assess new and modified generating systems and inverter-based load for compliance with NER performance standards and modeling requirements.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment of objectives.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to Engineers and Development Engineers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or willingness to obtain.
  • Significant knowledge of power system plant characteristics and the ability to model power system plant and behavior.
  • Proficiency in computer-based power system modeling and analysis tools (PSS/E, PSCAD, Power Factory, SSAT).
  • Knowledge of the National Electricity Rules (NER) with respect to system standards and generator performance standards (GPS).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts effectively.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong critical thinking, independent judgment, and problem-solving skills.
