Student Support Specialist for Vulnerable Students

**The Role**
Our Student Support Coordinator position plays a pivotal role in enhancing our school programs by working closely with the Student Services team to ensure vulnerable secondary students and their families have equitable access to support and resources. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing pastoral care, monitoring attendance, facilitating referrals, managing programs for identified students, and connecting families with external services.
The ideal candidate should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, enabling them to establish and maintain effective working relationships, negotiate, and resolve conflicts. They should also demonstrate well-developed organisational skills, research, conceptual, and analytical abilities, as well as experience in identifying problems and developing appropriate intervention strategies and support programs.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of educators, school psychologists, and external partners to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to student support. Additionally, you will provide support to the School Administration team in handling crisis management and response tasks as required.
**Responsibilities**
- Provide pastoral care and support to vulnerable students and their families.
- Monitor attendance and facilitate referrals to relevant services.
- Manage programs for identified students and connect families with external services.
- Work collaboratively with the Student Services team to develop and implement student support programs.
- Provide support to the School Administration team in crisis management and response tasks.
**Requirements**
- Degree in Social or Behavioural Science area.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Well-developed organisational skills and ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Research, conceptual, and analytical skills, with experience in identifying problems and developing intervention strategies.
- Ability to work with individual or small groups of students who are experiencing difficulties.
**Salary Range:** $70,000 - $90,000 per annum (plus superannuation)
