About the Role

McConnell Dowell seeks a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Project Manager to lead our project team on the Groote Eylandt Wharf Remediation Project in the Northern Territory. This position plays a vital role in delivering a critical project for our client.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee on-site mechanical engineering functions through subordinates, including Project Engineers and Cost/Planning Engineers.
  • Solicit relevant design parameter information for incorporation into detailed designs and construction specifications.
  • Maintain quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, inspect work drawings, construction, and specifications against site plans and conditions, and arrange corrections or modifications as necessary.
  • Coordinate the activities of an engineering team, program workloads, and provide technical and administrative guidance to the engineering staff to ensure goals and objectives are effectively achieved.
  • Ensure project engineering completion is on time and within budget, record completed work, costs incurred, materials used, and retain progress drawings.
  • Assign tasks and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards of supplier/subcontractor quotations/purchase orders, as well as subcontractor arrangements.
  • Participate in planning future requirements, including machine tools, ancillary equipment, major plant, and labor. Conduct site surveys and preparatory work prior to construction.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and planning authorities to ensure satisfactory completion of structures and construction work.
About You
  • Hold a tertiary qualification in mechanical or civil Engineering.
  • Possess specialist experience in project engineering and a working knowledge of project management.
  • Demonstrate a balanced understanding of mechanical engineering with hands-on experience in similar environments.
  • Display sound working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same.
  • Exhibit strong and empathetic communication skills, proven ability to engage others.
