Job Description

We are seeking highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associates to join our team at the University of Wollongong, Australia. The successful candidates will be part of a research project focused on advancing the manufacture of high-efficiency water electrolysers in Australia.

Project Overview

The project aims to accelerate the decarbonisation of industries by developing innovative electrochemical and other techniques that exploit the levers for high efficiency in electrolysers. The research will involve the study and optimisation of electrochemical engineering aspects of alkaline electrolysis cells, including those being commercialised by industry partner Hysata.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and experiments to investigate and optimise electrochemical engineering aspects of alkaline electrolysis cells
  • Develop and study improved components for alkaline electrolysis cells
  • Collaborate with industry partner Hysata to advance the manufacture of high-efficiency water electrolysers
  • Contribute to the development of a low-cost, simplified design, and high energy efficiency for alkaline electrolysis cells
Requirements
  • PhD in a relevant field such as Engineering, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, or a related field
  • Track record of successful academic and/or industrial research, preferably in alkaline water electrolysis or a related field
  • Demonstrated capacity to undertake collaborative academic/industrial research in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Well-developed organisational skills with an ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and procedures
