Role Overview

School psychologists play a vital role in enhancing student learning and wellbeing outcomes. They work in primary and high schools, providing counselling and psychological assessment to students.

This is a collegiate role that offers unique challenges and opportunities for professional development and making a positive impact on children and young people's lives.

The successful candidate will be based at a public school and have opportunities to work with students across different age groups, including primary and high school aged students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides individual and group counselling services to students, implementing short-term therapeutic interventions.
  • Collaborates with the principal, school executive, staff, and student support services to improve student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Contributes to the social, emotional, and academic development of students and supports schools and students with complex behavioural needs.
  • Administers cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral assessments, reporting results and collaborating to improve learning, wellbeing, and mental health outcomes.
  • Works collaboratively with learning and support teams, parents, carers, and agencies to develop appropriate school-based support for students.
Essential Requirements
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing policies that promote student wellbeing and upholding partnership agreements.
  • General or Provisional Psychology Registration with relevant professional boards.
  • Valid and current clearance to work with children.
  • A valid driver's licence and ability to travel between work sites.
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
