Coding Leadership Role

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Coding Manager to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive coding audits, leading and providing ongoing coding education, and preparing and delivering education and training activities to the coding team.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Health Information Management or equivalent tertiary qualification, with a minimum of 3-5 years coding experience in abstracting and coding across a wide case mix in a private or public health facility. They will also possess sound knowledge of Australian and NSW Coding Standards and experience in developing, designing and implementing training programs for coders and clinical documentation improvement recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough coding audits to identify areas of improvement and implement strategies to enhance coding accuracy.
  • Lead and provide ongoing coding education to support team growth and professional development.
  • Prepare and deliver education and training activities to the coding team.
  • Educate clinicians on clinical documentation improvement, DRG and activity-based funding.
  • Timely and accurate completion of clinical coding using ICD-10-AM, ACHI and adherence to the Australian Coding Standards when interpreting documentation for coding purposes.
About You / Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Health Information Management or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  • Demonstrated auditing experience in a tertiary hospital with sound knowledge of audit processes and data integrity.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years coding experience in abstracting and coding across a wide case mix in a private or public health facility.
  • Sound understanding of Australian and NSW Coding Standards.
  • Knowledge of developing, designing and implementing training programs for coders and clinical documentation improvement recommendations.
