Job Overview

As a pivotal member of the healthcare team, you will provide after-hours leadership and management of the nursing team, patient flow, and hospital operations. If you are seeking a new challenge to further develop or build on your leadership skills, this role offers significant opportunities for professional growth and career advancement.


You will liaise with the executive on call and report all significant events. You will be available for flexible shifts for morning, evening, night duty, and weekends.


Responsibilities
  • Supervise safe and quality care that meets current best practice standards
  • Support and liaise with Nurse Unit Managers and Team Leaders of wards and departments
  • Ensure all areas are staffed appropriately and cost-efficiently
  • Coordinate patient flow by managing admissions, communicating with VMOs, emergency department, and paramedics
  • Oversee the safety of patients and hospital staff
  • Lead in emergency codes and situations
  • Registered nurse with 8+ years' experience and current AHPRA registration
  • Recent After Hours Coordinator or Nurse Unit Manager experience, critical care experience an advantage
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Leadership skills, including mentorship and coaching of team members
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating and allocating staff
  • Awareness of Health Safety and Wellbeing processes
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Be patient-centered, a patient advocate, and focused on delivering quality care
  • Proactive and innovative approach to meeting National Standards for Quality and Safety in Healthcare
  • High degree of computer literacy, including MS Office
  • Postgraduate qualification in Leadership and Management (or willingness to complete)
  • Knowledge of relevant Enterprise Agreements
  • ALS-trained with current certificate (or willingness to complete)
  • Experience with Dimensions (staff time-keeping system) and RiskMan (incident management system)
